Housing Staff / Advocate

Work Shifts: Must be willing to work flexible shifts including nights, holidays and weekends. Basic schedule is 2 pm to 10 pm (28 hours per week). Schedule may vary based on needs of the agency.

Two (2) Part-time Positions to cover Monday – Sunday
Each position would cover 3 (three) 8-hour days and 1 (one) 4-hour day

Salary Range:   $12/hour - Shift differential of $2/hour for Saturday & Sunday shifts

JOB DESCRIPTION: Housing Staff is responsible to the Housing Manager for the day-to-day operation and security of ATV’s Housing (primarily the emergency shelter). This position works as part of an overall team that provides comprehensive Housing services including, but not limited to: ensuring housing is clean, organized and in good working order within each shift; providing crisis intervention counseling, advocacy, support; accompaniment and transportation for Housing clients, as directed; knowledge of and relationship building with community partners; supervising and assisting housing clients in learning and applying household management skills; facilitating House Meetings; picking up, sorting and organizing donations; and overall housing operations that maintain the cleanliness of shelter and on site transitional housing. Documentation of services provided. Other job related duties as assigned.

REQUIRES good active-listening skills, clear communication, ability to work with broad range of people and a non-judgmental attitude. Current California driver’s license, insurance and good driving record. Bilingual/Bicultural (Spanish) a plus. Computer skills (documentation and client assistance) are necessary. This job requires completion of domestic violence counselor training, which can be completed after hire.

ALTERNATIVES TO VIOLENCE (ATV) provides a broad range of services for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence or abuse. Confidential services include a 24-hour hotline, crisis counseling, psycho-educational and support groups, assistance filing protective orders, court accompaniment, advocacy, counseling, therapy and emergency shelter. ATV provides services for batterers and those at risk of becoming abusive.
